Dear Members,

Please see below a report from Paul with regards to the works on the Course:

As of 1st march all greens and tees have been verti drained to a depth of 150mm. Other areas including the front 15th tee and some walkways were done until conditions became too wet. A program of edging and weeding bunkers also started. Sand will be ordered and bunkers filled during the season. All tees will have a controlled release fertilizer applied to them and greens a spring start up feed before golf returns.

Several holes from persistent deer damage have arisen on 2nd,16th and 17th greens I am aware of this and will be repairing them near opening date. Unfortunately there is no real answer to the deer problem at the moment. Weather permitting all tees surrounds will be brushed and cut and the fairways marked out. The greens have been hand cut at 6 mm and will be reduced as weather and condition improve like every year at Maylands. On going maintenance including cutting, blowing, clearing wood and branches from winter months will continue as usual as we try and recover from a very challenging year for us all.

Stay safe and we will see you all in a couple of weeks.

15th March 2021

Dear Members,

Hope you’re all well and safe and looking forward to returning to golf.

The tee sheet is now finished and I would encourage you all to take a look. As always I’m sure there will be some people I have missed off. Also for members that play on a Sunday we have the Thorndon cup at home on Sunday the 11th April and Leslie wood on Sunday the 18th of April. Obviously tee times have been affected but every one who is normally booked on a Sunday are booked but times do vary a little. Any problems then please let me know.

On another point could I please ask all our members to consider when they contact Clare or myself that this is done in normal working hours. Working hours are Monday to Saturday 9-5pm. I have to have my phone with me day and night for my diabetic alarms. I had two texts on Sunday morning at 7.02am and 7.08am and Saturday in the evening. We would appreciate your consideration in this matter.

We look forward to see everyone at Maylands very soon.

Best wishes

Darren & Clare

Dear Members,

Firstly, we hope you are all well and safe and looking forward to a return to golf.

As I know a few of you are already aware we have decided to reverse our decision

regarding block bookings. This decision obviously caused a lot of unrest and so

we decided to reinstate those bookings. However, the members with these block

bookings will be asked to check in at the pro shop with a list of the names of your

groups. This way the shop can make sure the times are being used correctly. If any

particular group do fail to do this 3 times or more we will take have no choice but to take away the privilege.

With regards to the course we had three greenkeepers back full time on Monday.

The greens have been cut and verti-cut this week. Hopefully Paul will return

on Monday from his isolation period, and with a full team back they can get the course

ready and prepared for when we all return on the 29th March.

Look forward to seeing everyone back at Maylands very soon and lets all have a

great golfing 2021.

Best wishes Darren
